Good news on J.J. from the SMU win over TCU:
McDermott Named Rivals.com C-USA Player Of The Week

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU quarterback J.J. McDermott has been named the Rivals.com C-USA Player Of The Week. McDermott was 23-of-45 for 349 yards and four touchdowns in SMU's 40-33 win over 20th-ranked TCU on Saturday, Oct. 1.
SMU is off to a 4-1 start for the first time since going 5-1 to begin the 1986 season, and this week's victory was the first road win over a ranked opponent since topping then-No. 13 Baylor in Waco on Oct. 11, 1986. With the win, McDermott improves to 4-0 as a starter.

McDermott and SMU host UCF in a rematch of the 2010 C-USA Championship game on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 2:30 p.m. McDermott played at Cinco Ranch HS in Katy during the 2005-2006 seasons and graduated in the 2007 Class.
COUGAR ALUMNI NEWS
Austin McCall graduated from Cinco Ranch HS in 2004. He was a very dedicated football player and always gave his best effort and wanted the same out of those around him. Austin is now and Army Rangers serving our country in Afghanistan. He survived a very challenging situation and did so with amazing courage. He was selected as the “Hero of the Week” by the US Department of Defense. Please take time to read about and listen to Austin and his heroic deeds.
